So Hard & So Far !

So hard and so far!
One of the advantages of reading through the Bible every year is to find nuggets which jump off the page with a thought for the day. In this case, my reading is from Exodus 10: 27. But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wasn’t willing to let them go.
It stems from a denial of God, of God’ power, of the Holiness of God. Because why… do you know? Because if there is an all powerful God, then there is also sin, also hell, the penalty for sin, and the good news, also a Savior, Christ the Lord. That is how God works, part of His character, to be complete, to be our I AM…
When you are confronted by the Holiness of God, your sin is uncovered, and you have to at least see your sin, or have to deal with sin issues. In Pharaoh’s case, God let his heart be hardened, which is a thing that God does, when those people reject Him again and again, then God gives them their desire, to be hardened away from God.
So there is no wonder about what we are seeing in our society, about efforts to strike away, ‘In God We Trust’, or to take away, ‘so help me God’, from our oath of offices.
This is a time to stand up for God and country as a bold step. But is also time to step away, just Jesus and you in a quiet place together, for making sure of our devotion and prayer. Nothing else will do.
